Goodeids "discovered" by Heiko Bleher

In the August 2013 issue of Practical Fishkeeping magazine, there is an article by Heiko Bleher on his fish collecting trip to Mexico with Manuel Morales Zamudio. He talks about finding just 5 specimens of Zoogoneticus quitzeoenis in the "Quitzeo" region, giving the enigmatic location as the "45th river in his field trip between Cuidad Lazaro Cardenas and Acapulco. He also talks of finding Characodon lateralis in an area he believed had never been recorded before. Describing the fish as "the male had its typical broad black stripe, but the female sported a fantastic bright golden colour". Sadly he doesn't state the location of this fish. Any thoughts on these "discoveries" . And if anyone is in contact with Heiko perhaps we could be enlightened if these are truly new locations or ones we already know about.

Heiko Bleher is - following some friends, I have asked years ago - famous for detecting "new" fish, locations, habitats and so on, and sometimes he really does. I can't believe, that the "new" habitat of Characodon lateralis is very far away from the known habitats, but I will try to get a satisfying reply from him (or Manual Morales Zamudio; some like Juan Miguel or Arcadio are friends with him. I have sent him a request just before) via FB.
