4th International Meeting - 1st European Meeting

Hello goodeid lovers,

Here are more details on the GWG meeting in the Netherlands. The meeting is combined with the yearly meeting of the Dutch killifish society (KFN) and Poecilia Nederland.

It will be held on 6 to 8 September in hotel De Schildkamp in Asperen (http://www.schildkamp.nl/). The prices of the rooms are € 60 per night for a single room, double rooms cost € 95 per night (excl. some euros for tourist tax). There will be a buffet on Saturday 7 September the price of this buffet is € 37,50. If you want to book a room or want to join the buffet, please make your reservations through Wim Suijker (mahdiaensis@hotmail.com).

Transportation from Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol) can be arranged. If you want to get picked up at the airport please give the flightdetails to Fokko Padmos (f.i.padmos@zonnet.nl) or Kees de Jong (skiffia@xs4all.nl).

During the weekend there will be a show of killi’s and livebearers. We hope to be able to put a lot of rare and interesting species on display.

Friday 6 September

On Friday there will a social meeting for the people who are visiting the GWG-meeting. It will start around 4 p.m. The prices for the meal will be announced later. If you want to join us on this evening please contact Fokko Padmos and Kees de Jong.

Saturday 7 September

09.00 – 17.30    Show open

09.30 – 10.20    lecture by Rit Forcier (USA): "Goodeid biotops."

10.30 – 11.15    lecture by Ruud Wildekamp (NL): "Empetrichthys and Crenichthys."

11.30 – 12.30    lecture by Adan Fernando Mar Silva (MX): "Molecular systematic of Xenotoca melanosoma, 

                          an  endemic species of central Mexico."

12.30 – 14.00    lunchbreak

14.00 – 15.00    lecture by Rit Forcier (USA): "A complete review of the Goodeid family from a hobbyist's

                          view."

15.00 – 16.00    lecture by Winfried Grell (NL): "Breeding of the species that have been collected on the last 2

                          Congo-trips: COFE2010 (Congo Fellmann & Eberl) and FCO2011 (Fellmann Congo)."

16.00 – 18.00    Auction of rare killis and livebearers

19.30 – …          Diner & prize award ceremony for the best fish in the show.

Sunday 8 September

09.00 – 10.30 Show open

11.00 – 14.00 Auction of the showfish

End of the show. If there are people interested we can visit a small Aqua Zoo nearby.

As soon as we know who will attend the meeting we will pass the email-addresses, to all the visiting people so arrangements about swapping fish can be made.
